Gadsby and J. W. Crowe. . , , \ Reporting on the negotiations between the A. and P. Association and the Stratford Poultry and Winter Show Association up to the expiration of its term of office, last year’s executive stated that since the last general committee meeting the association had been approached by the winter show association with the proposal that the two bodies should amalgamate. The suggestion was that the A. and P. association should absorb the winter show association on condition that the latter association raised the sum of £lOOO by donations, handed over all plant and fittings and all other assets, the winter show association to guarantee to .make every endeavour to fulfil its promise to obtain 300 new members for the merged associations. Under these conditions the executive promised, with the approval of the members of the A. and P. association, to erect a building costing about £3OOO. At a meeting of the executive on December 5, 1934, a communication was received from the winter show association to the effect that the canvass had not up to that time realised expectations and as the limit of time for. the commencement of the building was getting very close to the final date on which the Government would grant a building subsidy, the winter show association required an assurance that if the £lOOO was not all collected in time to commence the building the A. and P. association would not stay proceedings on account of the shortage ' At this executive meeting three winter show delegates were present to state their case. ' / “After the retirement jof the delegates the executive went thoroughly into the question,” continued the report, and.it was of the opinion that the result of the canvass had not realised expectations by a very large margin and the executive expressed a desire that the matter be deferred indefinitely until the winter show association could obtain increased support The winter show association was advised of the executive’s opinion. This was the position left by. the executive at the expiration of its term of office, it was explained. . ' The report was adopted.
