MORE BABIES PLAN

.CAMPAIGN IN BRITAIN EXAMPLE OF MRS. LYONS MANY CHILDLESS PEOPLE PAPER OPENS AGITATION By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Rec. 5.5 p.m. London, April 17. Inspired by Mr. Neville Chamberlain s increased income tax allowances for children, the Daily Express has started a “more babies” campaign. It publishes a photograph of Mrs. J. A. Lyons, wife of the Australian Prime Minister, and ten of her children under a streamer, “Nine hundred thousand wives say no babies, but Australian Premier’s wife said eleven.” The Daily Express says* there are over 1,650,000 married couples in Britain without children. Experts estimate that more than 900,000 of these started their married life with the decision to have no children. Three million married couples have only one child.
