AWARD BREACHES
GIRL WORKS 17 HOURS IN ONE DA<. NO PAYMENT OF OVERTIME. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, April 16. Isabella Hucks, proprietor of the Theatre Royal Cafe, Gloucester Street, to-day was fined £22 on four informations lodged by the Labour Department alleging award breaches. She pleaded guilty. Evidence was given in one case that an employee on occasions worked from 9 a.m. till 2 a.m. and had no overtime, and frequently did not have a weekly holiday. One girl had been paid £1 a week instead of 37s 3d.
