Miss D. Farrell, Hamilton, is spelling a holiday as the guest of Mrs. A. J. Hopcroft. Mrs. K. J. Watson, who has been on holiday in the South Island for the last two months, returned on Saturday. Mrs. Cleaver, who has been visiting her son for the last six weeks, has re- ' turned. Mrs. Stewart, Otorohanga, who has come to Taranaki for. the Nevz Plymouth High School old girls’ jubilee, is the guest of Mrs. J. Meuli. The Normanby Presbyterjan Hall was the scene of a pleasant gathering on Thursday evening when a number of the church people assembled to say good-bye to Miss W. Johnson on the eve of her wedding. Mr. C. L. Hay, superintendent of the Sunday school, spoke in appreciative terms of Miss Jo'hnson, who had been an enthusiastic teacher for some time. He expressed regret at her impending departure, and wished her all happiness and prosperity in the future. 'The Rev.*K. J. Watson presented Miss Johnson with a number of attractive gifts, expressing 'the good wishes of all'present. Mr. Christieson replied on behalf of Miss Johnson, and she was presented vftth a dainty bouquet, made by Mrs. Meuli, and by Desmond Hay and lan Galloway, Mr. A. Galloway sang and the evening was spent in games and competitions. Miss Pearle Qane played the music. The Normanby Basketball Club held a successful dance on Friday evening and as a result its funds will benefit considerably. The committee, Misses G. Chadwick, M. Hopcroft, C. Stewart, I. Preston, J. Phillips, I. and M.. Schicker were responsible for the pretty decorative scheme, carried out with lemon, green and black streamers hanging from a huge' central bell suspended from the ceiling. The stags, draped with fern fronds and other greenery made an attractive setting for Vinsen’s Orchestra. Mr. K. Tippett was master of ceremonies. There were a number of novelties, the winners of which were: Monte Carlo, Mrs. Stewart jun. and Mr. H.‘ Coxhead; statue waltz; Mrs. Gower and Mr. M. Kennedy; mystery train, Miss N. Loader and Mr. D. Walden. An exhibition tap dance was given by Miss Jean McAsey. Supper was served by a committee consisting of Mesdames C. J. Preston, D. Stewart, J. Tippett, J. A. Archbold and Pickering. Among those present were Mesdames Dombroski (black frock), Hitchcock (blue matalasse), D. Stewart jun. (red matalasse), Misses G. Chadwick (pink sand crepe), I. Preston (peacock blue frock), M. Hopcroft (flame velvet), C. Stewart (nectar taffetas), I. Schicker (salmon satin), M. Schicker (white floral taffetas), J. Phillips (blue Lombardy crepe), A. Radford (green chiffon), M. Anderson (blue satin), E. Gooch (red georgette), F. Hitchcock (white satin), J. McAsey (American batiste), M. Bibby (pink taffetas), L. Dombroski (blue silk crepe), Minnie Paton Eltham (pink satin), Mercia Taylor (orange crepe de chine), D. Dombroski (white frock), L. Kelly (floral georgette), Keitha Tippett Hamilton (green ring velvet), E. Hurley (brown frock), L. Hitchcock (green satin), J. Hammond (white ring velvet), S. Wolfe (heliotrope matalasse), W. Martin (lemon crepe de chine), M. Michalick, Auckland (flame satin), A. Robinson (black satin), Rita Moore (blue satin), D. Farrell, Hamilton (pink sand crepe), Myra Pickering (floral georgette), E.
