TRADE WITH BRITAIN

DESIRE OF NEW ZEALAND. CONTRASTED WITH AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, March 5. Reference to New Zealand’s genuine desire /to buy as much as it could from England was made by Lord Nuffield (formerly Sir William' Morris), head of Morris Motors Ltd., on arrival by ' the Monowai yesterday. In this connection he referred to the great differences between Australia and the Dominion. He noted almost with that Australia seemed unwilling to extend to England the measure of ■reciprocity which might be expected. As an example he quoted the fact that New Zealand imported a far greater number of British motor vehicles than Australia in proportion to the population. “I feel compelled to forecast a farreaching and perhaps tragic trade. disruption between Australia and the Mother Country at some future time failing an immediate movement to overcome the grave and increasing lack of reciprocity which is gradually undermining the very foundations of trade relationships between us,” he said.
