UPPER MANGOREI PICNIC

SPORTS EVENTS AT NGAMOTU. On Tuesday the Upper Mangorei school and district held the annual picnic at Ngamotu. . Despite the unpleasant southerly wind there was an excellent attendance and the parents and children spent a happy day on the beach. In the afternoon a short sports programme was run through, the children receiving generous prizes as the result of a collection from the parents and friendS The committee men acted as officials for the sports and the women of the district provided lunch and afternoon tea in a tent kindly lent by Mr. H. Giles. The following are the results of the races:—First senior girls: Betty Pearce 1, Sylvia Christmas 2, Second senior girls: Muriel Knauf 1, Heather Johnston 2.

First junior girls: Nola Balsom 1, Nancy Johnston 2. Second junior girls: Nola Balsom 1, Keitha Flay 2. First senior boys: Brian Radford 1, Jim Christmas 2.
