DEFEAT OF NEW PLYMOUTH.

AN OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE. The feature of a friendly game at Sanders Park between a team of Wanganui watersiders and a New Plymouth watersiders team was the double performance of Young. Of Wanganui’s score of 118 Young made 63, including a six and 12 fours, W. Baldwin (15) and Seconi (10) making . the next highest figures. H. Lawrence with four for 16 and A. Woods three for 27 took the wickets. For New Plymouth’s team only H. Lawrence with H reached double figures, the team collapsing before the bowling of Young six for 5 and Marchant four for 21, with only 30 runs to their credit. NORTH COUNTRY GAMES JUNIOR COMPETITION. BRIXTON AND TIKORANGI LEVEL. The country junior competition was continued on Saturday and as both tikorangi and Brixton scored easy victories the position is unaltered, those two teams still remaining level in the lead. Mangorei travelled to Tikorangi and was defeated by an innings and 100 runs. Tikorangi batted first and, thanks to a well compiled 94 by G. Jupp, who hit one six and six boundaries, and 32 not out by M. Faull, scored 160 for five wickets declared. H. Wood two for 41 was the most successful bowler. Mangorei could make only 42, S. Radford 19 and C. Radford 13 not out. A.' Soffej <ook three' wickets for no runs in one over and G. Jupp six for 28. In a second innings Mangorei could score only 18, Donnelly capturing seven wickets for 10 runs. ■ ; TWO HALF CENTURIES. BRIXTON BEATS TARURUTANGI.' Brixton defeated Tarurutangi at Brixton on the first innings. Tarurutangi batted first but could make only 27, N. Bariball (10). H. Purdie took seven wickets for 14 runs and D. 1 Rowe three for 11. Brixton made 186, G. Bishop (36), W. McCaul (10), D.. Andrews (52 retired), ,E. Richards (52 retired) and E. Hopson (10). R. Bariball took four wickets for 44 runs and was the best of eight bowlers tried. In a second strike Tarurutangi had 59 runs on for eight wickets, J. Dobson (24 not out), B. Stanley (20). SENIOR MATCH POSTPONED. The match between Tikorangi and Urenui, which was postponed owing to the races, was to have been played on Saturday! Owing, however, to the ground being required for the junior match the game had to be further postponed and will take place later in the season. RIVERLEA BEATS OEO TEAM. MARGIN OF 13 RUNS. A match in the K.A.R.R.O. cricket competition was played at Riverlea on Thursday between Oeo and Riverlea and resulted in a win for the home team on the first innings by 49 runs to 36. Oeo, in a second innings, scored 58 for six wickets and declared, but was unable to dismiss Riverlea in the time left. Only one wicket was down when time was called. Scores were:—
