LEVIN MOTOR-CYCLE ACCIDENT. PILLION RIDER DIES IN HOSPITAL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Levin, Jan. 4. As a result of a motor-cycle skidding beneath a car on a wet surface at a bend in the main highway a mile north of Levin early this morning, Martha McFarland, aged 22, Christchurch, succumbed to severe injuries. , Miss McFarland was on the pillion of the cycle, which was ridden by Raymond Richards, aged 23, Christchurch. She received a severe fracture of the left leg, a broken collarbone, and head injuries. Mr. Richards was badly dazed. Both were, removed to the Levin hospital and later by ambulance to Palmerston North, where Miss McFarland died.
