JUVENILE CONCERT
NEW PLYMOUTH GIRL CITIZENS.
ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME GIVEN.
Judged as a children’s performance, the girl citizens’ concert held at Community Housb last night was one of the best that has been offered to the public it New Plymouth. The entertainment opened with a pianoforte and violin number by Beryl and Alf Ducksfield. The Tiny Ys, looking very attractive in small red shorts, performed “Old Roger,” a dramatised nursery rhyme. A toe dance by Merle Julian was cleverly executed, and in the recitation “Devil May Care” Marian Cur? ran showed distinct ability. A burlesque of “The Three Fishers by the Wayfarers Club was greeted with well-earned laughter. Joan Wpod and Emily George in a neat tap dancing item were followed by Betty Garcia, who gang “Trees,” and Leslie Wood in a solo A Dutch dance by the trio, Leslie and Thelma Wood and Noeline Steptoe, was an effective number. " Marian Curran recited "Jack Bludsoe and the stage was arranged for a play “Family Portrait” by Mabel Constanduros. Performed by. .members of the Haeremai Club this item demonstrated an unusual dramatic talent among the young actresses that might be envied by a far more experienced cast. The players were: Jean Gable, Emily George, Marian Curran, Norah Rogers, Jean Cotton and Eunice Sandergon. ’ Finally Joan Wood danced an operatic solo. Mr, Fred Williams played the accompaniments to the items. After the concert Nester Walker, chief citizen, gave a short talk on the aims of the conference to be held at Auckland in January.
