OPUNAKE
Mrs. J. Bamey, Wanganui, was the guest of Mrs. R. Ritchie this week for a few days. Miss D. Fisher, Blenheim, Is spending a holiday with Mrs. J. P. Burton. Mrs. E. O’Meara, Wanganui, was a visitor to Opunake on Sunday. Miss M. Peebles, Hamilton, will arrive on Monday to spend some weeks with her sister, Mrs. C. H. Marcroft.
Mrs. C. A. Smith was hostess at afternoon tea on Tuesday, when Mesdames J. P. Burton, T. N. Watt, C. O. Edmonds, C. H, Marcroft, and Miss D. Fisher (Blenheim) were her guests.
Mrs. R. J. Morris has returned home after spending some weeks in a private hospital at New Plymouth. Miss Mantey has returned to New Plymouth after spending a few days with Mrs. H. J. Mantey. ’
Several members of the Eltham Croquet Club spent a day on the Opunake lawn. Mesdames Peacock, Gubb, Egaar, and Manley were the visitors and they were entertained by Mesdames Ritchie, Jenkin, Sinclair, Dalrymple, Clouston, Brennan and Miss Feaver. Four members of the Opunake Club paid a return visit to Eltham. They were Mesdames Ritchie, Jenkin, Dalrymple and Clouston. A successful garden party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Tosland, Watino Road, Pihama, on Wednesday. About 80 people were present, and an enjoyable time was spent with croquet and putting competitions. The afternoon was in aid of the Presbyterian Church.
