CAR “CONVERSIONS”

INCREASING THE PENALTY. INTENTIONS OF THE MINISTER. (By Wire—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. Although the draft legislation providing for heavier penalties for the conversion of motor-cars has not yet been approved by the Cabinet it is the intention of the Hon. J. G. Cobbe to make an endeavour to have it passed this session.

It is understood the penalties suggested are £lOO or one year’s imprisonment. If the case is dealt with summarily, and £2OO or two years’ imprisonment if the case is dealt with in the Supreme Court.
