MEETING OF THE BRITISH LEAGUE. CONTROL OF DOMINION BRANCH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. The annual meeting of the New Zealand branch of the British Drama League was held at Timaru to-day, most areas being represented. The chairman of the national council, Miss A. Kane, Wellington, referred to the great progress the league had made in the past year, stating it had attracted almost everyone interested in drama. She expressed pleasure at the representative attendance and hoped that the festival would be successful. A suggestion was made that in order to raise additional funds to provide paid officers areas should contribute a quota based on the membership. The matter was hejd over for a meeting of the council at Auckland. A remit was submitted that A certificates be awarded only at finals at which three judges give a decision, but it was left to the areas themselves to decide. Regarding representation on the council it was decided that each area have the right to six nominations and the area where headquarters were situated have double this number. Officers elected were: President, • Sir Michael Myers; vice-presidents, Misses A. Kane and E. Blake, Sir Harold Beauchamp, Messrs. W. M. Page, A. Heighway, G. Shirtcliffe (Wellington), Dr. W. H. Unwin (Timaru); joint secretaries, Misses E. Blake and E. Wemyss (Wellington); national council, Misses Kane, E. Blake, D. Isaacs, B. Page, E. Wemyss, J. Bridgeman, H. Gard’ner, C. Keddell, M. C. Madever, Mrs. »E. Maslen, Canon ,P. James, Messrs. E. Baldwin, S. Natusch, W. Armour, W. Page, V. Lloyd, W. Wauchop, F. Dawn, A. Farquhar, R. Hogg, E. Render, N. Hannah (Wellington), Miss K. Stocker (Paraparaumu), Mrs. R. Kelso (Ohau), Rev. W. Lambert (Wanganui), Colonel Brittain, E. Armitage (Auckland), E. Hogben (Dannevirke), Mrs. J. Ardagh, Messrs. W. Harris and D.
