ALMOST A PERFECT WEEK

CONDITIONS ON MOUNT EGMONT. SEVERAL ASCENTS AT WEEK-END. An almost perfect week with the number of visitors the best for a month is reported by the Dawson Falls and North Egmont mountain houses. At North Egmont yesterday two parties of three reached the summit and a third turned back within 700 feet of its objective. A large number of the members of the J. C. Williamson theatrical company were at North Egmont, where the visitors totalled about 100.

There is a glorious bed of yellow English crocuses in the park at Dawson Falls. There was good ski-ing on the Fantham’s Peak slope. A party under Mr. Rod Syme went to the summit of the mountain. They had a splendid walk up on crampons. The Red Cross Society members from Manaia, Hawera and Eltham held their annual picnic at Dawson Falls yesterday, the party numbering 50.
