SCHOOL AT OPUNAKE

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Opunake school committee was held on Thursday evening. Present: Messrs. S. Boyd (chairman), J. Johnstone, H. H. Gilshnan, W. D. Richards, C. Humphries and L. Sharrock (secretray). The headmaster (Mr. W. T. Armstrong) reported for the month as follows: Primary school: Present roll, 194; roll number at the end of last term, 186; average attendance last term, 170.5. High school: Present roll, 34; average attendance last term, 35.9. Eight new pupils had been admitted to the primary school at the beginning of the new term. Mr. G. P. Clegg was appointed to the staff to relieve Miss McCrae. During the holidays the school was scrubbed by four boy*. The committee decided to apply to the Education Board for 16 tables and chairs for the infant room. It was pointed out that the attendance was increasing in the infant room and that more furnishings would be required within a short time. An additional classroom at the primary school would soon be needed, it was reported.
