OKAIAWA SOCIAL EVENING.
GENERAL AND PERSONAL NEWS. . The Okaiawa hall was well filled on Tuesday night, the ocasion being a euchre party and dance, interspersed with musical items, organised by the Okaiawa Women’s Institute. The hall and supper room were decorated and the stage which was tastefully furnished and decorated with flowers. Mrs. J. Green played music for dancing. Mr. C. McCullum was master of ceremonies. Prizes for euchre were won by the following: Ladies, Miss A. Butler 1, Mrs. D. Hurley, travelling prize; men, Mr. J. Green 1, Mr. B. Cameron, travelling prize. A novelty dance was won by Miss W. Oldfield and partner. Items were contributed by the following: Vocal duets, Christine and Pauline McEwen (Normanby); songs, Mrs. F. Lowe and Mr. G. Cottrel; recitations, Miss V. Jones; violin solo, Mr. C. Betts. Mrs. G. Good, the president, thanked the performers and all who had made the evening a success.
Miss E. Washer is visiting Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Penny have returned from Wellington. . Miss M. Dickie, Wanganui, is the guest of Mrs Penny. . Mrs. W. Blair has been visiting Wellington. Miss E. Ward has returned from New Plymouth. Miss V. Jones, Hawera, is the guest of Mrs. McCullum.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Blair and Mr. C. Blair were visitors to Feilding for the Blair-Nairn wedding.
Mrs. W. Baker has returned a visit to her mother, Mrs. Exley, Hawera. Miss Erna Ward is on a holiday visit to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. G. Hurley and family will leave shortly to reside at Whenuakura. Mr. S. Corbett has returned to. Pnngarehu.
