KORU-KIRIHAU NEWS

GENERAL AND PERSONAL NEWS. The appearance of the county grader and workmen a few weeks ago raised residents’ hopes. Heavy rain, however, which fell after the work was completed, has reduced the roads to muddy tracks, and they are now in worse condition than for some years. The Koru school re-opened after the holidays with a roll of 24—an increase of four over that for the previous term. The Kirihau school has been closed temporarily, and Mr. G. W. J. Shepherd has accepted an appointment as assistant at the Te Teko Native school. The annual meeting of householders called recently to elect a hall committee was poorly attended, and the old committee is carrying on. Miss L. C. Corlett, Wellington, was the guest of Mrs. H. J. Keys last week. Recent visitors to the district were Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Drader, Tahora.
