CONDITIONS IN FREE STATE. SLAUGHTER OF CALVES “SCARE.” By Telegraph—Press . Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 7 p.m. . London, April 25. Mr. de Valera, addressing the Irish Tourists’ Association, declared that Ireland was one of the most peaceful countries in the world. Many visitors found it one of the world’s happiest and most prosperous countries. Mr. de Valera discountenanced “scare” stories about calves being slaughtered.: He added that although more calves were killed than usual there was no inhumanity; otherwise prosecutions would have followed.
