TOKO FARMERS’ UNION

VISIT TO FREEZING WORKS. The Farmers’ Union trip to the freezing works at Waitara was very successful. Forty farmers made the journey and spent an enjoyable and profitable day. The knowledge gained of the requirements of the British market should be of assistance in the raising of stock for freezing. While clearing weeds from a small drain at the back of Mr. H. Milne’s property on the Waiwiri Road Messrs E. Milne and H. Wallace caught a large eel. Its length was 4ft 3in, girth 13in and its weight 171 b. • Master Earl Peteh recently ran a large darning needle into his leg; A thread was in the needle so that it could be withdrawn fairly easily, though unfortunately the needle broke and a visit to the doctor was necessary to have the piece extracted.
