RISE IN CUSTOMS FIGURES

INCREASE IN QUARTER’S RETURNS. NEW PLYMOUTH COLLECTION. In all but the excise Customs and other returns at New Plymouth for March show a good increase on the figures for March, 1933. Customs, petrol and sales tax returns for the quarterly period are greater than those in the first quarter of last year. There is an increase of £484 4s over the figures for March last year in the Customs revenue for this month. In the quarterly period, the increase is £335 15s, notwithstanding a decrease of £l3lO 6s 6d in the collections for February of this year. Details are:— March.
