Prior to the fire which badly damaged Mr. Scott Paine’s racing motor-boat Miss Britain 111., it attained a mean speed of 35.08 miles an hour, beating Miss Betty Carstairs’ sea mile record of 86.21 and Sir Henry Segrave’s unofficial record for single-engined boats of 92.78 miles an hour.
