PUKEARUHE NEWS
At the cribbage tournament held last Saturday evening there was a good attendance. Mr. X. Holdemer was the winner, and Mr. H. Savage the previous weekLast week the hall committee held a euchre and dance evening. Sixty people were present. The winner of the ladies prize was Miss E. Wells, with 10J out of 12 games. Messrs. B. Evans and J. Lambert drew for the men’s prize, with 9| games, and Mr. Evans won the playoff. During the evening, Mr. L. Herbert presented Mr. D. Savage with a cheque on behalf of the sports committee and settlers in the district. Mr. Savage, who is leaving the district shortly, suitably replied. After supper, dancing was enjoyed to excellent music supplied by Mrs. Smith. Mr. H. Marlin was master of ceremonies. ’ Mrs. P. Carey has returned from a fortnight’s holiday in Auckland. Mr L. Ellis has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. S. Wells, Puniho. Mrs. S. Johnson has returned from the New Plymouth hospital. Miss Nellie Cocker is spending a holiday at Stratford and Opunake. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Wills are spending a few days at New Plymouth. Mrs. Edward White is in the New Plymouth hospital.
