Miss Mary Nutting spent last weekend at New Plymouth with friends.

Miss Kath Hammerton was the guest of Mrs. McAllum last week-end. Miss E. Gy de, who went to Wanganui on holiday, has returned. Mrs. Jameson, who has been a visitor to Mrs. Anderson, Lincoln Road, returned to her home at Wellington last Saturday.

Mrs. Harrison, Gisborne, who has been the guest of Mrs. Somerton, left for Hawera this week. <

Mrs. Faris has returned from her beach cottage at Fitzroy. Mrs. Wallace Bruce, Wellington, is a visitor to Miss Johnston, Durham Road. Mrs. Grant senr. and Miss Grant were the guests of Mrs. lan Grant last weekend.

Mrs. A. Marshall, Durham Road, gave a delightful “at home” in honour of Miss Joyce Bedingfield, Hastings. Mrs. lan Grant entertained at bridge on Tuesday evening.

Miss Joyce Bedingfield, who has been the guest of her sister, Miss Bedingfield, Durham Road, left for Hastings on Saturday morning.

.A delightful afternoon in aid of the Plunket Society was held in the picturesque grounds of Mrs. Wanklyn’s home on Thursday.' The weather was ideal. Tennis was played and competitions were held, the winners of the latter being: Ladder croquet, Mrs. Faris; quoits, Mrs. Winfield; Aunt Sally, Mrs. Darnell; vase competition, Mrs. Leech; putting, Mrs. O’Carroll. The president (Mrs. Braybrooke) welcomed everyone and thanked Mrs. Wanklyn for allowing the Plunket Society to use her grounds. About eighty persons attended. Afternoon tea was served by the committee and friends.

Mrs. Bumip has returned from a holiday at Auckland. The garden party held at Mrs. W. Brown’s home, Durham Road, on Wednesday afternoon in aid of the Norfolk Road branch of the Women’s Institute, was a great success, and members from places far and near attended and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. A playette was acted by members. Competitions were held. Tea was served under the nut trees.
