MOTOR BANDITS CONQUERED
SUCCESS OF SCOTLAND YARD. CREDIT TO FLYING SQUADS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyrigtiu Rec. 5.5 p.m. London, Feb. 15. Scotland Yard claims that it has conquered the motor bandit menace. Six of the most dangerous gangs operating in London since 1931 have been broken up and most of the members are serving long sentences. Chief credit belongs 'to the Flying Squad, which consists largely of young police motorists who volunteered for special service. They are capable of driving and pursuing a motor-car ■as recklessly as the bandits themselves. Scotland Yard’s system of wireless communication between various units; is also valuable. Only six known bandits are now at large. Their haunts are known. When they venture out they are usually attended by a squad car, possibly disguised as a tradesman’s van.
