DEFEAT IN HOUSE OF LORDS
display Against government. TRANSPORT MINISTRY ATTACKED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 8 pan. London, Feb. 15. The Government was defeated in the House of Lords to-day on Lord Buckmaster’s motion demanding a dissolution of the Ministry of/Transport being carried by 31 votes to 26. Lord Buckmaster complained that the department failed in its duty of holding the scales fairly between road and railway traffic and of protection of the public. The terrific road accident toll last year was 6651 killed and 206,410 injured in motor accidents. The Marquess of Londonderry claimed that the Ministry was working valuably toward a solution of the road versus rail problem. The number of road accidents was slowly declining. || Lobbyists stated to-night that the defeat was a mere demonstration and lost its force owing to the small attendance.
