FITZROY BOWLERS MEET

FAREWELL TO MR. N. MURRAY. Members of the Fitzroy Bowling Club met at the green on Saturday and fare-, welled Mr. Norman Murray, who is leaving the district to take over the headmastership of the . Tawhiti school, Hawera. Mr. W. P. Okey, president of the club, in making a presentation to Mr. Murray, said the members regretted exceedingly that Mr. Murray was severing his connection with the club. He had proved himself to be a capable exponent of the game of bowls arid above all a thorough sportsman. The members joiried in congratulating him upon the advancement in his profession and wished for him and the members of his family all possible success and prosperity in their new home.

Messrs. H. J. Price and J. T. Pavitt, vice-presidents of the club, supplemented the remarks and assured Mr. Murray of the high esteem in which he was held by every member of the club.

'ln responding Mr. Murray thanked members for ■ the presentation and said he regretted very much severing his connection with the club, for during his 9i years of membership he had formed many valued friendships. It was a pleasure to be a member of the dub because of the fine spirit of comradeship which existed, and he felt sure that so long as that, spirit continued the club would prosper. He would always look back with a great deal of pleasure to the happy times spent on the Fitzroy bowling green. Mr; Geo. Lyall, on behalf of the members of Mr. Murray’s tournament rink, presented him with a silver ash tray on which was mounted a miniature bowl. Mr. Lyall said Mr. Murray vzas an ideal skip and it was a pleasure and a privilege to play with him. He wished Mr. Murray all success in his bowling and professional career.
