HOME NURSING DETACHMENT.

TEAM FOR COLLINS CUP. The members of the Women’s Detachment at New Plymouth have been very busy during the past few weeks in an effort to raise funds for the travelling expenses of the Collins Cup home nursing team. Their aim has been most successfully accomplished, and the team will leave for Wellington next Friday, the competition taking place on Saturday, August 6. The personne of the team is: Miss Kathleen Kurta (capt.), Misses Myra Itoch, Lilian Chapman, Joan Berry, Madge Wolfe and Mrs. Hodder. Last week a most enjoyable “hard-up” social was held at Mrs. Hodder’s home in aid of the funds, and competitions of various kinds have all helped to augment them. The winner of the tea-cosy competition was Miss Madge Wolfe, the winning number being 92. The sewing club of the detachment has met weekly and has done splendid work, many new garments having been made and old ones re-made for necessitous cases.
