INCENDIARISM ALLEGED
BLAZE IN AUCKLAND CHURCH.
DOSS STATED TO BE SERIOUS.

Auckland, April 16.
The Rev. Jasper Calder, city missioner and vicar of the church of the Epiphany in Karangahape Road, declared this morning that* the fire in the church last night was a clear case of incenV diarism. The police have been notified of the suspicious actions of two people. The church’s loss is serious, including choir robes, surplices, cassocks and altar hangings. Mr. Calder saved the communion plate and church records by dashing into the smoke. The organ and choir library were destroyed.
OUTBREAK IN TIMBER YARD.
DELIBERATE ATTEMPT BELIEVED.

A fire which the police believe was deliberately started occurred in the yards of* the Kauri Timber Co. at Freeman’s Bay just after 8. o’clock last night. There was no wind, and the flames were suppressed before great damage was done. The yards are filled with thousands of pounds worth of timber, and other timber yards adjoin.
