DOMINION HOCKEY SHIELD

CANTERBURY HOLD TITLE. DEFEAT OF OTAGO SIDE. By T«l*rr*ph.—Preu Awoeiatio®. Christchurch, Last Night. Canterbury defended its title to the New Zealand Hockey Shield by beating Otago in a fast game by five goals to one. For the greater part of the game Canterbury were on top, and fully deserved their win, though generally the play was more even than the final scores indicate. The young members of the Otago team failed to play up to expectations and were unable to cope with the more experienced Canterbury eleven. Goals were scored for Canterbury by McCormick (2), Turbitt (2) and Bell, and for Otago by Mayston.
