WASHED OVER HIGH WATERFALL.
TRAGEDY ON THE MILFORD TRACK

Invereargill, Jan. 28.
A recent drowning accident oh the Milford Track, where a man named Harridge lost his life through attempting to cross a, swollen stream while negotiating the' McKirinon Pass during the heavy downpour on Friday, was inquired into at Te Anau last evening before thp acting-coroner, Mr. C. G. Macauley.
Evidence showed that the deceased Avas Thomas Henry Harridge, aged 45, solicitor of Kerang, Victoria, a married man with four children arid a sister in Greymouth. Harridge was warned by Moncrief, a track worker, not to cross the stream until the "water had abated, but he ignored the instructions and was carried aAvay by the force of . the water, being thrown over a high waterfall and fracturing his skull. — u his clothing was torn off his body by the force of the water. The body was recovered on Sunday. A verdict of accidental droAvning Avas returned.
