Mr. Percy Douglas, who has 'been on holiday abroad, has returned to New Plymouth.
Th’e Director of Forestry, Mr. E. Phillips Turner, will retire from the State Forest Service on March 31 next.
Messrs. W. H. Moyes and Gordon Fraser, who have been ori a fishing holiday in the Taupo district, have returned to New Plymouth. Lieutenant-General Thomas Astley Cubitt has been appointed Governor and Commanderrin-Chief og Bermuda in succession to the late Sir Louis Bols, reports the British Official Wireless.

A reply has been sent saying that Dame Melba’s recovery will be very sloav. She is a patient at St. Vincent’s Private Hospital, Sydney. , Sympathy Avith Mr. A. Tiplady, skip ot one of the Eltham rinks, Avho was suddenly taken te the New Plymouth hospital yesterday afternoon to undergo an operation, was expressed by Mr. T.
