MAN KILLED INSTANTANEOUSLY. HORSE GAVE TROUBLE AT CRO'SSIN By Telegraph'.—Press Association. Palmerston North, Last Night. Struck by the south-bound New Ply* ■ mouth express when passing over Victoria Street level crossing in a cart John Cariaii, aged 85, a fishmonger, was killed instantaneously. The force of the impact carried deceased over 100 yards. The cart was smashed to atoms and strewn along the track. The horse escaped with a few cuts. \ . Carian, who was slightly deaf, experienced trouble with the horse at the crossing. He leaves a widow and seven of a family.
