RETURN OF GOOD MARKETS

GOLD AND CURRENCY PROBLEM.

LORD D’ABERNON’S PRESCRIPTION

British Wireless. Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Nov. 16. Lord D’Abernon, addressing the Liverpool Incorporated Chamber of Commerce last evening, suggested that gold hoarding by the United States and France and gold stabilisation might be among the ffiain causes of the present world crisis in trade. A fearless scientific diagnosis was the first step required, but he expressed the view that if the world desired the return of good market conditions in cotton or wheat or any other commodity, and if it wished for higher freights and more trade activity, these could be achieved with the greater certainty and speed by dealing with the gold and currency problem than by any other means.
