AUSTRALIAN NATIONALISM
NEW ASSOCIATION FORMED EFFORT TO COMBINE PARTIES “SINK PETTY DIFFERENCES” YOUTH SHOULD TAKE HAND By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Sydney, Nov. 17. A movement, known as the Young Patriots’ Association, has come into being at Lockhart. The objects of the association are contained in the following resolution, which was carried unanimously: “The time hps arrived for vigorous concerted action by the countiy, combined with those of similar mind in the cities, that petty differences should be sunk in order to restore financial and economic stability and to fight extremist doctrines.” People from all the surrounding towns attended the meeting, some travelling 150 miles. One speaker eaid the idea originated among a handful of Lockhart residents who were imbued with the idea that the time had arrived when the youth of Australia should take a hand in finding men and women who were prepared to put the country before their party, and who would assist in an endeavour to merge the Nationalist and Country parties on a basis broad enough to meet the needs of electors of moderate Labour views.
