A Wellington message reports the death of Lady Maria Georgiana Hector, widow of Sir James Hector, aged 82. Sympathy vrith the Rev. R. B. Gosnell in his illness was expressed by a gathering of 60 Hurford Road residents at a Band of Hope meeting. Canon E. H. Strong left New Plymouth for Wellington yesterday to attend a meeting of the standing committee of General Synod. Mr. J. S. Connett, chairman of the Taranaki County Council, left for Wellington yesterday to interview the Main Highways Board. The death of Mr. George Winder, excity councillor and a prominent bowler and Mason, is reported from Wellington. Sympathy with the overseer, Mr. G. Meredith, because of the death of his father, was expressed by the Taranaki County Council yesterday. K Mr. F. E. Beamish, chief, postmaster at New Plymouth, leaves to-day on annual leave. Mr. Niel Mclsaac,' relieving chief postmaster, will be in charge during the absence of Mr. Beamish. Mr. E. J.- Parr, 8.A., B.Sc., and Miss Hetherington, M.A., secondary schools inspectors, are in New Plymouth for the purpose of visiting the Girls’ High 1 School. Mr. T. S. Bowler, who has been for 16 years a director of the Moa Dairy Company, declined to seek re-election at the annual meeting yesterday. The company placed on record appreciation of his service. Mr. R. 8.. Sutton, was yesterday reelected chairman of directors of the Moa Dairy Company for the eleventh year in succession. Mr. J. Dobson was reelected chairman of the Kaimata Dairy Company for the fourth year in succession. ...... Rotarians A. R. Donaldson (Wanganui) and John Farrell (Auckland) and Messrs. H. R. Billing (New Plymouth), - G. H. Bell (Oakura) and 0. R. Bell (Wellington) were guests at the New Plymouth Rotary Club luncheon yester; . day. Mr. Billing gave an address on the ' subject of the Opaku Reserve, defining how the reserve was set aside, and dealing with some of the legal aspects. Sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. F. J. Bracegirdle, who had been closely associated with both concerns as a supplier and a director, was expressed at meetings of the Kaimata and Moa Dairy Companies yesterday. He was one of the early directors of the Moa company and upon the formation of the Kamata company was a provisional director, having been one of the original settlers at Kaimata.
