Ransom, Minister of Lands, referred to the activities of the •State Advances Department since the United Government had taken office. He stated that from December 1928 to December 1929 the amount authorised was aa follows: Advances to settlers, £4,338,340; advances to workers, £3,727,636. Loans paid amounted to £6,347,137, and funds added to the State Advances Department’s eopital was £4,371,240, The whole of the arrears in the Advances to Settlers office had been overtaken since the Government took office.
