MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The Opunake Town Hall on Tuesday was the scene of activity. Motor vehicles brought visitors from various parts of Taranaki to the Presbyterian Bible Class rally. After lunch the young people went to the recreation ground and the tennis courts. At the recreation grounds a seven-a-side football tournament was played, about seven teams competing. Hawera and Auroa played in the semi-final, Hawera winning. Stratford defeated Hawera in the final. Mr. E. Smith was. referee. The executive of the Bible Class Association decided an annual camp rivill be held. The location of tlie executive will be Strafford. In the evening addresses were given by the Revs. Millar and Smillie. The ladies’ guild of the Opunake Presbyterian Church materially assisted in. thq, tea and luncheon part of the programme. In the third grade football competition the game between Opunake and High School was interesting, due to the evenness of the teams. High School deserved the win as it gave the better exhibition in combination. The score was: High School 8 points (a try scored by Clegg and converted by Wilson and a try scored by Tito) to 6. P. Smith scored for Opunake and F. Barraclongh goalcd. Mr. K. A. McNae refereed. Mrs. R. Shepherd, Bay of- Plenty, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Moore. Mr. G. Picard, Opua, jarred his hand severely and is under treatment in the New Plymouth hospital. Mrs. M. O’Brien, Ihaia, is in hospital in New Plymouth. The primary schoolgirls played the Convent girls basketball on Wednesday, and after a keen contest the primary school won by 4to 3. Miss Carryer was referee.
