NEW PLYMOUTH CYCLISTS
OPENING OF ROAD SEASON. The handicaps have been declared for the New Plymouth League Cycle Club’s road races to-morrow starting from Waiwakaiho at 2 p.m. They are the opening road races of the season, being the first of a series of five races in each series.
The A grade series will be for a cup presented by Mr. R. Aroa with a medal presented by Mr. R. Yardley for runnerup. The course is to the mountain road and back (ten miles). Handicaps are: S. McCann scr, H. Bocock SOsec, Roy Sole and C. Gilbert Imin, T. Hookham and H. Cavaney 2min. The messengers’ series is for a cup and medal presented by the Labour Day sports committee. The course is to the Bell Block monument and back (4} miles). Handicaps are: G. Tuffery ser, T. Horner losee, L. Stevens 4!ssen, S. Warren and H. Rodgers' Imin, D, Stafford 2iuin. There will De no B grade race owing to insufficient entries. CLUB’S FOOTBALL MATCH. The following will be the cycle club’s Rugby, teams at the showgrounds this week-end. The match is the first annual match, Westown and Vogeltown combined, versus the vest of the club. All 1929 and 1930 members are eligible to play. Westown and Vogeltown. —T. Horner. C. Gilbert, E.
