LIGHT-HEAVY BOXING
V/ PEARCE DEFEATS C. GEAR. By Telegraph. —Press Association. Blenheim, Last Night. W. Pearce (Wellington) gained a decision over C. Gear (Blenheim) in a 10 round light-heavy boxing contest tonight. Both were making their debut in the professional ring. The bout was not particularly thrilling, though both fought hard all the w: y. They showed their lack of recent fights. Pearce proved a shifty target, displaying superior footwork and general ringcraft. Gear pe. sirtently took the fight to his opponent and a section of the crowd considered he won.
