FEWER BIRTHS IN APRIL

STATISTICS FOR URBAN AREAS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. During April the number of total live births registered for the urban areas in New Zealand was 951 as against 1030 in March, a decrease of 79. Deaths in April were 484, an increase of 14 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contribu'od 244 and females 240. Fortytwo of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 8.68 per cent, of the whole number, and 31 of these were under one year of age.
