Rec. 11 p.m. New York, April 24. Squadron-Leader Kingsford Smith will sail to-morrow for Amsterdam. He has decided to fly the .Southern Cross over the Atlantic and will take off from Ireland, whence ho intends to take the machine under its own power, possibly Within a period of five weeks. When he reaches Ireland Kingsford Smith will wait only for good weather before making the westward flight. He conferred with the Fokker firm hero today and feels that apart from not extensi/e repair.: to one wing there is surprisingly little needed in the way of alterations to the machine, and is confident o. success. He will carry a radio man, navigator* .nd possibly a co-pilot. It is understood the navigator will >e one of the most experienced American trans-oceanic aviators.
