SOUTHAMPTON MURDER
EVIDENCE AGAINST PODMORE. By Telegraph —-Fixes Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 9.10 p.m. London, Jan. 30. Sensational evidence was given by a Singaiese’ prisoner named Deass at the resumption of the trial of William Podmore, who is charged with the murder of Messiter at Southampton. Deass in broken English stated that he occupied the' next cell to Podmore, who told him that while working in a Southampton garage he asked his employer for money, lost his temper, picked up a hammer and hit him on the back of the head. “Then he took the man’s watch and chain, cigarette cafe, £3, some coppers and keys and locked the garage.”
