Ashburton, Last Night. The Ashburton Trotting Club’s summer meeting was held to-day in fine weather, the course being in excellent order. There was a very large attendance and the totalisator put through £24,331 compared with £20,410 Jos last years. Results:—

Orphan was first into the straight, followed by Billy Sea. An exciting race was won by two lengths, with a shade more than a length between second and third. Time, 4min 28sec.
