Fairway, I learn, does not go out of training at the end of th© season, but will be put aside after an effort at the final Newmarket meeting for the Ascot Gold Cup next year. This is the plan laid down at present, but I can never persuade myself that Lord Derby’s colt, good though he is, will ever succeed in cutting any ice over the gold cup distance. Arctic Star broke a blood racing career. The weights for the Manchester November Handicap have not yet been published, but I am able to say that 'Saracen, who failed in the Cesarewiteh, will be making a bold bid for a second victory in the last big race of the season. The horses that ran well at Newmarket will, of course, be looked after by tho weight compiler in their later engagements, and for practical purposes it may be best to ignore those that were prominent, at Newmarket when assessing prospects at Manchester. Saracen is, at any rate, th© horse I am most interested in at this ’Moment.
