Mr. Geo. H. Mann, of Auckland, is visiting New Plymouth. Sir- Truby King is a passenger for Auckland by the Maunganui, which left Sydney yesterday. Mr. A. C. Lawrey. left New* Plymoutn yesterday for Christchurch, where he will in future reside. The Rev. J. D. MctL. Wilson, -New Plymouth, recently suffered a slight accident which resulted in a fractured rib. Lady and Miss Gunson and General Fox Connor are passengers by the Niagara for Auckland, states a cable from Suva. Motions of sympathy with the relatives of Messrs Z. T* Walker, H. T. Ballinger and S. J. Candish were passed at the meeting of the Taranaki Agricultural Society yesterday. Owing to his having been transferred on promotion to the managership of the Auckland branch of the Commercial Union Assurance Company, Ltd., Mr. 0. H. Wyatt has resigned from the New Plymouth Fire Board, of which he has been chairman for some time. At a meeting of the board Mr. Wyatt thanked members for the support they had always given him. Mr. W. C. Weston was appointed chairman of the board, and a motion was passed placing on record appreciation of Mr. Wyatt’s work in the interests of the board. The death on September 22 at the age of 25 years of Mr. Bernard W. Moore, son of Mr. C. H. Moore, architect to the Taranaki Education Board, has cut off the promising career of a typo of young man who can ill be spared. After serving his apprenticeship to a New Plymouth firm of engineers, Mr. Moore joined the engineering staff of the Union Steamship Company, and worked first on the s.s. Moeraki and later on the motor-ship Hauraki on th© New Zealand-Australian-Vancouver run. He gave great promise as a marine engineer, and made many friends amongst his associates.
