T. Kceble’s cast-off. Pangolin, promises to be useful over hurdles in the south. * # * * The Levin-owned Propaganda was shipped to ‘Melbourne this week, ana should do well in Victoria. #■# # ' * Great Chapter is in great heart, and after a race or two will keep the best of our sprinters busy. ##. # • The Waverley meeting will engage the attention oh owners and trainers, nominations closing on Thursday. * * * * The seven furlongs start at Bulls has always been responsible for scrambling for positions in the first furlong, but this trouble has been removed by extending the track into the polo paddock, <xivincr°a straight run of 11 chains before a turn is reached. The newly-formed section of the track is 70ft wide and will accommodate 21 horses at the starting, post. 1 « * x * A. E. Stratton, who damaged his collarbone when Sunart toppled over with him at Marton, is again at riding work, and though he did not expect to be fit to ride at Hastings, will will not be long before -he is actively following his profession with the colours up. « « * Imperial Spark is now quartered at Rowlev Hatches stables. It is his owner’s intention to send him to Auckland for the second day of the spring meeting. 10 *# « . # Elysianor continues to get through light tasks at Bulls, and will be ready for the fray when his owner elects to start him. Mr. Edhouse, it may be mentioned, is recovering from a serious illness and has had to forego his regular visits to the tracks to see the Elysian working. 00 # # * * It was Geo. Young who prepared Night Raid for the Melbourne Cup, and not Geo. Price as stated in Sydney papers. Night Raid, who was not an outstanding success as a racehorse, broke down before the race and' was sold rather cheaply to come to New Zealand, for stud purposes. With few opportunities at the beginning he left Nightmarch and several other wood sorts, and now Phar Lap is adding further to his fame. STRATFORD RACING PREPARATION. COMMITTEE RECEIVES REPORTS.
