The course proper, with flags 50ft. out from the rails, the No. 3 grass and the steeplechase courses were available, and the going was inclined to be greasy. *On the course proper, Thursby and Kawainga were first out and ran seven furlongs on this* track in Imin. 41sec., being together at the finish. Brampton, Neil and Tambourine sprinted half a mile in 4Ctsec.; they finished in a bunch. Importer did strong work over a round, covering the last seven furlongs in Imin. 45sec. •, Grand Spirit, Chief Link and Great Emblem jumped away at the half-mile peg and finished as named after covering the distance in 54soc. Grand Spirit was slow to begin, but after going a furlong was alongside her companions and beat them by a length and a half. Chief Link is a nice mover, but he appeared to be slipping about in the going; . Silvermine sprinted down the straight, hitting out very freely. Sea Comet did strong work over a mile and a half,.'running the last round in 2min. 22 2-ssec. Eager Rose completed a six furlongs task in Imin. 28 l-ssec., and Corinax was too good for Resturant over an extra furlong run in Imin. 37 2-ssec. British Princess and Manawhenua were together just in front of Running Over at the end of half a mile run in 56 2-Jsec. Ruliim King was allotted a five furlongs task, but was not after time. Singleton reeled of! a six furlongs task in Imin. 28 3-ssec. without being hurried. Boinbarder was going better than Alloy over a five furlong sprint run in Imin. lOsec. Red Lion began smarter than Roman Pearl and Catoma at the half-mile post and beat them by several lengths in 53 4-ssec. This was a good gallop, and Red Lion looks an improved horse as a result of his trip to Sydney. Diamond Queen was too good _ for Calithe at the end of seven furlongs which took Imin. 41sec. Amor and Leader jumped" off at the seven furlongs peg and completed the task in Imin. 38 4-ssec., Amor doing best at the finish. Sir Archie was too good for Kauri Park while traversing a round in 2min. 21scc. Bonnie Day (Olive) cleared a couple of hurdles safely. Golden Wedding (Husband) and Adjuster (Nightingale) were sent over six schooling hurdles and got through the task in a satisfactory manner. Golden Wedding impressed most. Rayonnant (Butterworth) and Rahepoto' (H. Dulieu) were companions over a round of the steeplechase course, giving a good display. The former did his work best and finished in front. Pink Coat and Rol De Vai arrived from the south this morning and Reremoana and Isa are expected here next Wednesday.
