MANAWATU GORGE ACCIDENT
DEATH OF THE GATEKEEPER. By Telegraph—Press Association Pahiatua, Sept. 2. James R. Symonds, a married man with a large family, employed' as ft gatekeeper at the Manawatu Gorge bridge, who was knocked down by a car last week, died in the Pahiatua ’hospital on Saturday evening. He never regained consciousness. An inquest was to be held at Woodville to-day.
