SOCIAL AT ST. AUBYN
PROCEEDS FOR HALL FUND. A successful flocial organised by the Methodist Ladies’ Guild was held at the. St-. Aubyu Hall, New Plymouth, yesterday. The proceeds are to be devoted to'the hall fund. An enjoyable selection of songs was given by Mesdames A. B. Macdonald, R. Hawkins. K. Jones, Madame Veta Cornwall and Miss K. (Sykes, while an elocutionary item by Miss Hadden and a violin solo by Mrs. Pat Allen were appreciated by the large gathering. Afternoon tea was provided by Mesdames Looney, Vincent and Berg. (Stalls which had been placed around the sides of the hall were decked with wares, and a brisk trade was plied all the afternoon. The stall-holders were: Sewing stall, Mesdames McWhinney, Hildred and Trewin; cake, Mesdames Adamson; Fisher and Evans; sweets, Mesdames Thompson and Bullin; flowers, Miss McWhinney; produce, Mrs. Brokenshire.
The Rev. G. S. Cook occupied the chair, while the president, Mrs. Nelson Hill, and the secretary, Mrs. Charters, wore in charge of the general organisation of the social. The proceeds were about £IG.
