WORK OF PLUNKET SOCIETY

MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. At the monthly meeting of the New Plymouth branch of the Plunkct Society there were present: Mesdames I. M. 'Kidd (in the chair), F. H. Moore, T. Drake, W. Clarke. A. E. Wiggins, J. L. Mander, F. H. Cholmeley, Franklyii White, J. S. Church, F. H. Masters, W. C. Weston, W. J. Reid, T. Wilson, D. Le C. Morgan, and the hon. secretary and treasurer (Mrs. C. S. Mayer). Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames E. Shaw, A. J. Tunbridge, E. King, C. E. Williams and A. IL Featherstone. The nurses’ report for the month of June was as follows:—Number of babies on books, old, 436, new 16; visits to homes, 240; visits to rooms, adults, 305, babies 195, older children 6; advice on domestic hygiene, 57; advice to expectant mothers, 5; telephone calls, 79; letters written and received, 33; visits to nursing homes, 9; emulsion used, 811 b. Waitara: Four visits, 74 old babies, one new. Inglewood: Four visits, 70 old babies, three new. Rahotu: Two visits, 44 old bab’.es, one new.

Mesdames F. H. Moore, J. L. Mander, F. H. Masters, C. S. Mayer, and I. M. Kidd were appointed to the floral decorations committee from July 15 to August 17. The treasurer submitted the financial statement showing a credit balance with money in the Savings Bank totalling £572* ISs Bd, and accounts, including nurses’ salaries, clc., totalling £7B 5s 5d were passed for payment. Further arrangements were discussed in regard to Baby Day, November 22, and a schedule of stall-holders, etc., was drawn up. The society acknowledges the following subscriptions and donations received during June and July: Mesdames H. Rowe £1 Is, K. Kirk 10s, Rickard 10s, W. A. Cartwright ss, Rydon ss, Schneller ss, Bethell ss, Bartholomew ss, A. M. Blennerhassett ss.
