EGMONT-WANGANUI HUNT.

MEETS IN WAIMATE DISTRICT.

Followers of hounds met at the residence of Mr. A. Mitchell, Manaia, on Wednesday. The day was fine and with a fresh wind blowing gave them an enjoyable ride. Owing to only six couples being brought through, and to the hounds not running up to their usual form, an early halt was called. Throwing off in Mr. Cunningham’s property, the hounds were unable to find, but followers had a variety of jumping, the paddocks being mostly on the small side with a jump in each boundary. One kill was made, but unfortunately gave no run, one-half of the pack chasing the hare out of the gorse right into the other hounds. Owing to Mr. Mitchell being indisposed, Messrs. Cunningham brothers entertained members and their friends to an enjoyable cup of tea, Deputy-Master H. I. Crocker returning thanks, which were acknowledged by Mr. Cunningham. On the previous Wednesday the hounds met at Mr. Garalin’s residence, Glenn Road, but owing to counter-at-tractions the attendance was somewhat smaller than usual. Those who were out enjoyed good sport and were hospitably entertained by Mr. G. Twidle. On Saturday members of the southern division met at Moumahaki cross roads. Those following on Wednesday were: Deputy-Master H. I. Crocker on Buenos Aires; Huntsman Myles on Overtax; Messrs. N. Crocker on Royal Park; I. Higgie on Gilgai; Cooke on Marble Lad; W. Grindley on Little Rita Peter; E. Death on Stoker; G. Twidle on Gold Breech; Miss M. Washer on Moascar.
